But Who Are We, Really?

Ask a British person today, “Who are we, as a nation?” and you're likely to be met with hesitation - a mix of uncertainty, frustration, even shame. The weight of our colonial past, cultural divides, and political fractures often overshadows our shared identity.

But history, however complex, is part of our collective story. And somewhere within that story, there are threads that connect us - across race, class, region, and generations.

One of the most powerful threads?
The arts.

The UK’s greatest cultural contributions have come from a blend of histories, voices, and traditions. From the stages of Stratford-upon-Avon to the sounds of Pirate Radio, from Working men's clubs to West End theatres, the arts have always belonged to us, the people.

We, shape them. We, redefine them. And in turn, they shape and redefine us.

The Who We Are project is about reclaiming that. About celebrating our differences and spotlighting what unites us, not just what divides us.
Because if there’s one place where Britain has always excelled and where every voice matters - it’s in creativity. The arts have been and continue to be a haven to the free-thinkers & innovators, as well as a powerful tool in bridging cultural divides, reminding us of what we, as a nation, have all built together.

The Project

Who We Are : The Art of Connection is a multi-disciplinary, story-telling project consisting of a docuseries, blog and podcast that forms a living, breathing archive of Britain’s creativity.

Through intimate conversations and cultural deep-dives, ‘Who We Are’ explores how the UK’s artistic legacy continues to inspire, heal, and unite people across the world. Honouring the past whilst spotlighting the pioneers, voices, and movements shaping our creative future.

At a time when Britain feels increasingly fractured, this project offers a different lens - one that reminds us that the arts have always been a source of collective strength, cultural exchange, and authentic connection that allows us to tell a collective story of WHO WE ARE.
